My Journey 8.21.2015

Today is August 21st - I am a little over 34 years old.

I missed my early doctor’s appointment back in June due to the head receptionist passing away.  I got lost in the shuffle.  I had rescheduled but was unable to make that appointment due to my menstrual cycle... So, I have rescheduled, again, for late October.  I love my doctor but so does everyone else.  It is hard to get in to see him.

On top of my annual visit and what not... I wanted to ask him about putting me on Metformin.  It may help me lose some more weight.  Hopefully that will help me feel like me again.

Any way.  After reading Woman Code by Alisa Vitti I have made some changes to my life.  I started taking Vitex.  I got off of birth control.  I have not had a missed period!!!  What?!  Yes!!  How amazing is that!  It may be all of my changes combined or this little herbal supplement.

I still take/use all of my other supplements – some of them are: a multivitamin, magnesium, zinc, ginger, cinnamon, cranberry, Vitamin C, calcium, a prenatal, Clary Sage oil, Clary Calm oil blend

I am still dairy free, but now I am just about fully plant based.  I don’t eat meat.  As most of you know, I’ve never really been a huge meat eater anyway.  I had eggs a few months ago… so I’m still working on it but I feel great.  I still struggle with not eating wheat.  It is a lot harder than the other foods.  It is in everything!!

I have been doing yoga for about a year now.  I had a small hiatus while moving but I’m getting back on track.

I’ve lost about 3-5 lbs this year.  So, that’s good.  Still have more to go.

I have noticed that this past year has been very more painful than most.  I’m not sure if it is because I’m getting older or if something is getting worse… but my abdominal pain is getting bad & my cycles are changing.  The pain is almost every day & is worse.  Sometimes I really wish my doctor would have given me the hysterectomy when I was 23 when I asked for it… would have saved me so much pain & heartache BUT no, I was too young in his opinion.

That is all I have for now… will update in late October.

My Journey 1.29.2015

So, it has been a while since I had a 'My Journey' post.  Almost a year.  A lot has changed in a year.

My last doctor's appointment was July 2014 "I had my yearly doctor appointment yesterday. I told him about all of the changes I've made to improve my life and health: removing dairy/wheat, changing deodorant to a non aluminum kind, underwire less bra, increased water intake, still not smoking, vitamins, oils, really being in tune with my body. He was so proud of me. I've lost some weight - my BP was great. I'm going off the pill - not to get pregnant but to help with my headaches. It was my choice. He said that he was going to take me of them when I turned 35 anyway - so I am just getting a head start. He said more of his patient should be more like me
smile emoticon Be your own health advocate!"

Today I am 33 years old.  I'll be 34 in June.  My childbearing days are coming to an end, in a hurry.

I have been dairy free & gluten free for about a year.  I am about 95% plant based now.  I rarely eat meat, but sometimes eat eggs.  I'm aiming for no meat at all.  I've been doing yoga for a little over a month.  I love it.  I've been intrigued with yoga & meditation but I've never tried it.. until now.

I am off of birth control & I started taking Vitex. Info on Vitex  At my last doctor's appointment I told him I didn't want to be on BC (birth control) any longer.  It made me feel so weird.  If you don't need it you shouldn't be on it.  BIRTH CONTROL WILL NOT FIX YOUR HORMONES.  It is a bandage.  He said he was proud of me for making that choice because he was going to take me off of them anyway - since I'm so close to 35 (when you normally are taken off of birth control).

I hardly ever have headaches!!  This is such an amazing and awesome statement.  You have no idea!!  I was having headaches & migraines so much it was more normal than not.  Going gluten free has helped with this.  I tell everyone if you suffer from headaches, migraines & joint pain to give up the gluten.  It has improved my life so much.

Being dairy free has certainly helped my stomach issues.  No more diarrhea, less gas, less bloating & more.

Dairy & wheat flour are found in so many places.  Even medicines.  So, if you're going gf (gluten free) or df (dairy free) watch out for it hiding in all places.

I still have abdominal/pelvic cramps - but that is something that I think will always be there.

I tried to stick with the Woman Code by Alisa Vitti.  I stuck with the diet for a while but I is very very restricting.  There is so much great information in the book.  I really recommend you reading it if you have 'women' issues like PCOS, unbalanced hormones or just want to know how the female body works.

So, my physical health is looking good.  But my mental health has really gone down.  I am in the process of looking for a counselor or therapist.

I recently found out that most women with a bicornuate uterus only have one kidney!  What?!  I had no idea.  I wonder if I only have one kidney?

Also, I've been doing some research and PCOS is now commonly diagnosed as an autoimmune disease.

My next doctor's appointment is in a few months.

If you're interested in learning more about PCOS, Bicornuate/Septate Uterus or a tilted uterus, just go to Google & search.  There are so many informative doctor/nurse led websites with great information.
